Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI): press briefing

maa, 27/01/2014 - 15:00 - 16:00

The Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) is hosting a press briefing on Monday 27 January at 15:00 at the International Press Center “Residence Palace” in the Passage room, rue de la Loi 155, Blok C.

We will be introducing our new campaign, which calls for the EU to put manufacturing industry back at the heart of the European economy. The campaign includes case studies from energy policy, transport, the timber regulation and more.

‘Basta! Get back on track!’ asks the EU to reduce red tape, help win the global competitiveness race, rethink existing policies and put the focus back on industry.

Teresa Presas, CEPI Director General and Marco Mensink, CEPI Deputy Director General will introduce you to the campaign. Mrs Presas declared: “The paper industry wants to stay within a strong Europe setting a world wide example. However, the current legislative situation is leading to imports of unemployment and exports of pollution. We urge policymakers to get back on track and focus on competitiveness. We say BASTA! to the impact excessive legislative burdens are having on manufacturing industry.”

The launch comes timely just before the BusinessEuropeDay on 28 January and before the Council is due to discuss industrial policy.

There will be video footage on the campaign available, as well as photo opportunities with our BASTA! hand.
