Organisation

The International Press Centre also has a role to play in the federal government's Copernicus project. This project, which seeks to make the government more responsive and efficient, thereby improving the services it offers the country's citizens, sets out a new organisational chart of government services. In this new structure, the International Press Centre is an autonomous external organisation under the department of External Communication, itself a part of the Federal Public Service Chancellery of the Prime Minister, which in turn is directly under the authority of the Prime Minister.
Being an autonomous body, the International Press Centre can steer its own course within certain limits, organise its own activities and conclude agreements with various partners, such as journalists' associations. The press centre management and partners meet in an advisory committee which discusses the policy and activities of the International Press Centre.
